We live in the backwoods and the well water has a funny taste to it. The well is within 100' of a shallow lake. Absolutely love it. Although I get water from a spring on my own land, it is high in manganese, which is not too healthy in that quantity, and also makes the water taste bitter and harsh (always used to cough when drinking a few gulps of that water).
